Is your wiring past its best?

Plenty of Kapiti homes still run on wiring that is decades old. Old rubber-insulated cable perishes with age, older circuits often have no RCD protection, and none of it was designed for the heat pumps, cooktops and chargers a home runs today.

We rewire single rooms, kitchens and bathrooms during a renovation, and whole houses from the switchboard out. Rewiring often goes hand in hand with a switchboard upgrade, so we can do both at once.

From Waikanae villas to Paraparaumu family homes, Jamie checks the existing wiring, explains what needs replacing and why, and gives you a fixed, upfront quote. Every rewire is tested and certified, and we leave your home tidy.

Rewiring FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else, Jamie is happy to talk it through.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Warning signs include lights that flicker or dim, power points or switches that feel warm, a burning smell, scorch marks and power that trips often. Older homes may still have their original rubber-insulated wiring, which perishes with age. If you are not sure, we can check it for you.

It depends on the size of the home, how many circuits it needs, how easy it is to get under the floor and into the ceiling, and whether the switchboard is replaced at the same time. We look at the house first and give you a fixed, upfront price, so you know the cost before work starts.

A partial rewire, such as a kitchen or one part of the house, can often be done in a day or two. A full rewire takes longer, depending on the size of the house and how easy it is to get to the wiring. We give you a timeframe with your quote and plan the work to keep disruption to a minimum.

Not always, but insurers and buyers often ask about old wiring and fuse boards. A rewire comes with a Certificate of Compliance, which gives you, your insurer and any future buyer peace of mind.

Yes. Every job is finished to the AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and signed off with the right Electrical Safety Certificate (ESC) or Certificate of Compliance (CoC), so your insurance and any future sale are covered.
